I decided to resurrect the old IPF spotties so I got Jane to drag them out of the bin. Pulled it all apart, sanded and rust converted it. Painted the bodies today and it was looking good, but the paint came out a bit frothy and the paint dried with the bubbles. Bugger. Now I have to sand them down and do it all again.
I went to get new washers and nuts for them and got the wrong ones.
About $87 I think. It was sent to me in only 4 days. I just kept my same numbers.
When you do this you "customise" your plates. This is different to "personalising" them. You can't transfer customised plates (so I can't use Jane's ones that are sitting in the garage ) unless you sell them with the car.
Well I have had some differential troubles while on holiday. It developed a huge diff whine that wasn't going away. 1,500 Km later I got home ok and sent it into a diff shop. They found it was the rear (I thought it was going to be the front). When they pulled it apart they found that one of the bearing cap bolts had come loose (very loose). Luckily there was no damage done (unbelievably considering it did nearly 2000K like that). They fixed it all up and I sent it off to ARB to get them to look at it. They confirmed that the locker was OK, so now she's all back together.
Finally I have the remote for the central locking working. It arrived before the LCMP weekend but it would have taken too long to install it. It ended up taking me 2 nights to solder all the wires in as well as a lot of contortion to get to them.
