I decided to resurrect the old IPF spotties so I got Jane to drag them out of the bin. Pulled it all apart, sanded and rust converted it. Painted the bodies today and it was looking good, but the paint came out a bit frothy and the paint dried with the bubbles. Bugger. Now I have to sand them down and do it all again. :x

I went to get new washers and nuts for them and got the wrong ones. :x

I did get new floor mats today though.

The Winch; it LIVES!!! Got the motor and tested it out. I used my old stuffed battery and it stuffed it worse, but the winch turned over no worries.

I spent the rest of tonight putting the dual battery isolator and cabling in. Going to buy an n70ZZ tomorrow.

I can't spool the rope as it's too noisy with the kids asleep and I need to turn the engine on. Job for tomorrow.

Now got the slimline number plate on the front. They even gave me a new one for the back.

How much did the new plates set you back Ben? Did you keep your old registration number or get a new one?

About $87 I think. It was sent to me in only 4 days. I just kept my same numbers.

When you do this you "customise" your plates. This is different to "personalising" them. You can't transfer customised plates (so I can't use Jane's ones that are sitting in the garage  ) unless you sell them with the car.

Well I have had some differential troubles while on holiday. It developed a huge diff whine that wasn't going away. 1,500 Km later I got home ok and sent it into a diff shop. They found it was the rear (I thought it was going to be the front). When they pulled it apart they found that one of the bearing cap bolts had come loose (very loose). Luckily there was no damage done (unbelievably considering it did nearly 2000K like that). They fixed it all up and I sent it off to ARB to get them to look at it. They confirmed that the locker was OK, so now she's all back together.

Finally I have the remote for the central locking working. It arrived before the LCMP weekend but it would have taken too long to install it. It ended up taking me 2 nights to solder all the wires in as well as a lot of contortion to get to them.
