Booloumba Falls day trip 3rd June 2017

Post by Dave »

It was a clear sunny sky when the gang (Don and Tracey, Cos, Keri, Mark and Dave with 2 kids) met at Yowie Park in Kilcoy. Though it was only 12 degrees, Don supplied some warm breakfast to any takers.

Ensuring we don't take too many side tracks, Don lead the gang to across Sunday Creek Road. There was one turn-off that had a road closed signed, and we quickly discovered it was due to several fallen trees.

it wasn't too long before we reached Charlie Moreland camp grounds, where we decided to have lunch. After lunch we headed off to Booloumba Falls, that required several creek crossings. The water level was low, so they were relatively easy to cross.

We stopped at Booloumba Falls, took a few photos, and walked back to the car park. It was definitely too cold for a swim, though other visitors did seem to brave the water for around 20 seconds. Some photos will be posted soon.

Afterwards, the group headed back to the Charlie Moreland campground area, and took a side track. There were tracks everywhere, and soon we found ourselves driving along various ridges.
There was one mud hole that we did need to go around, and a little bit of guidance was used to safely get vehicles past some trees.

It was then getting late, so headed back to Charlie Moreland Camp grounds to air-up and head home. It was a great trip that offers many types of 4x4 challenges. Everyone appeared to have enjoy the trip. A big thanks to Don for organising and leading the trip.

And below is a 21 second video. You can see more of the falls as well as several of the group standing near the top of the falls in the last few seconds of the video.

I must say it was certainly a beautiful day out. Don's specialty at the start of course is his yummy ham & cheese toasted croissants. This is often experienced while traveling on extended trips away. No rule stating you can't have them on day out trips!!

The journey out to and the walk down to the falls was enjoyable & relaxing. Getting our tires into some mud finished the day off nicely. Charlie's is certainly a place worth organizing a camp at. The summer time would be good as there is a great swimming hole where the forestry track meets the main road, just before the bridge. Camped there many a times, what used to be called Little Yabba Creek.

Thanks Don for your work putting this together, Dave, for your aerial camera footage & Cos, your never ending stunning photography capturing all those great locations.

All up great company & a great day out.

Cheers
