Tweed Valley and Christmas Lunch - Sunday 4th Dec

Post by RegyRocky »

It was decided at the last meeting that we would have the Christmas party as a morning drive followed by Lunch at the Tumbulgum Hotel in NSW.

I will run a drive from Tweed heads to Tumbulgum taking in some beautiful drives in the area.

Date: Sunday 4th December 2016
Meeting Place: Caltex Service Station 96-98 Kennedy Dr Cnr Barrett St, Tweed Heads West NSW 2485
Meeting Time: 8:45am for 9am Start (Qld Time)
Grade: Easy Green

We will drive one of the back ways to Murwillumbah Then we will head out to the Mooball State forest then return via Cudgera Creek road.

Lunch is booked for 12:30 QLD Time and we will try to get there around 12 noon.

G'day All

I know some of the kids might not enjoy some of the winding roads so I was thinking there could easily be an option for those with kids to drop them off (with supervising adults of course) at the Murwillumbah Aquatic Centre for about 1.5 hours whilst those who wish to continue driving can, and then pick all the swimmers up on the way to the pub this is because we will be going through Murwillumbah twice.

This is just a thought. Up to you on the day if you wish to do this let me know at the meeting point or via this forum.

As for thieving santa I have no idea, but if someone wants to organize it then please put your hand up ASAP.

Hi Gary,

My kids will probably come along for the drive. It's an opportunity to continue playing with their tablets. I may also have person keen to get behind the wheel, especially if we find some dirt to drive on.

Secret Santa ... we would be happy to participate if others are also interested in the event.

I'm happy to take part in Secret Santa too. I believe the club has done it in the past, who remembers the rules and how much we can spend on presents? Is everyone else happy to take part?

See you Sunday,

Cos.

Ok, lets do Thieving Secret Santa.

How it works for those that wish to be involved:

Purchase a present to the value of $20 (something that members of a 4wd club might like, in the past highly sort after items have included a high lift jack (I dont quite know how that fit into the price limit), a pig, torches, lollilies, but definitely not a pancake maker)
All those involved will pick a number from a hat, and that will be the order that people will go in.
Number 1 picks a present, opens it for everyone to see. Number 2 gets to choose whether they want to steal the 1st present, or take pot luck on opening a new one, and this continues until all presents are picked. If your present is stolen, you then get to decide if you want to steal from someone else (but not the person who just stole your present)or select a new present. To finish, the person who went 1st then gets to decide if they want to keep their original present or steal a present from anyone else.

So the moral of the stoy is don't get attached to your present until it is all over, it can be whipped away in a flash.
