What a great day trip we had today ! not Mad Max-Fury Road but Tweed Valley -beautiful road.
Three vehicles made this trip Regy Rocky (Garry) trip leader,Boxy (Allan & Karen) and Grid Pack (Don).
We set off by 0800 hrs along the Tallebudgera creek road with views of Mt Warning and tropical rain forest
as we passed over the boarder into NSW.
Garry lead us along the Tweed River to Murwillumbah, Burringbar for morning tea break,Mullumbimby for Lunch at the Yeman Cafe(yum),
Onto The Channon,Nimbin,Uki and Tumbulgum.
We passed through Tweed Valley,Mt Jerusalem NP,Mebbin NP and Boarder Rangers NP.
Roads were a mixture of gravel ,bitumen, single lanes, hair pin bends and constant beautiful scenery.
We all slipped into 4wd at one stage to get through some washouts but nice easy drive.
We managed to recover a couple of tourists who found themselves stuck on a steep road.
Highlights-
Garry's place in Uki- what an interesting garden and thanks for the homegrown turmeric
-the last drink at Tumbulgum hotel on the Tweed- magic!!!
-Nimbin
Stats for the day 309 kms in 6 hours driving.
Thanks Garry and Don I can't wait to get back and see a few more things in the area!!!

Sounds like it was a great day! I wish I could have made it but I'm too busy getting ready for the cape.
Thanks for leading a trip Garry.

Sounds like a great trip. I would really like to do that trip later in the year. Like Ben, I was busy packing for the Cape trip. Long story, but I have a borrowed trailer today. Still LOTS of packing to do.
Yes - anyone have some good photos to share?

Yes the trip went really well. The wet weather added some lovely colours to scenery. The roads were good and a great day was had. I only managed to take one pic so I have added it here. Nimbin well what an interesting place It only took Don and I two minutes there before being asked if we want to buy some green stuff (yes stuff for smoking).
Because the Market wasn't on I extended the morning section a bit to include two other favorite roads.
I have also added a map of our travels.

Thanks Gary,
Definitely a great map. I'll have to talk to you at some stage about what software you used. It looks really good.

Yeah Gary and I must have looked like we were a couple of fugitives from the hippy days.
...and didn't Gary say something about his passion for growing mushrooms in his Yert??
Karen seemed to enjoy herself diving in and out of shops in Nimbin while Alan waited outside with a worried look.
I think we should try again for those markets at Channon - just as an excuse to head down that way again.
It was a terrific day - and I can think of a lot worse ways to finish the day than at the Tumbulgum pub!
Here goes at sharing some photos loaded on photobucket....I did try and follow the instructions.
The view from a lookout on the way down.
