Tweed Valley and The Channon Markets - Sunday 14th June 2015

Post by RegyRocky »

Trip Leader: RegyRocky
Where: Tweed Valley and The Channon Markets
Costs: $2 for parking at the Channon Markets (bring gold coins) + $20pp approximately for Dinner + $? Lunch at the Market or BYO Lunch
Standard: Green Circle
Meeting location: Caltex Service Station (Cnr Tsipura Drive & Tallebudgera Creek Road) - Take the Tallebudgera Creek Road Exit 89 heading South on the M1
Meeting time: 7:45am for a 8:00am departure
UHF: Channel 13.

This day trip takes in a few of my favourite roads that I know in the Tweed Valley area. The trip will pass some beautiful mountain scenery, gorgeous rain forests using many of the back roads.
We are planning to stop for a short break at UKI, we will have an hour at The Channon Markets for lunch, and we will stop for a browse at Nimbin and finishing with dinner at Tumbulgum.
Four Wheel Drive is not expected to be used and it will be about 40% dirt roads and 60% bitumen.
I am intending to be at the Tumbulgum Tavern by 4:45pm to hopefully view the sunset before finishing with dinner and a drink.

Hi Gary,
Sounds terrific!!
It's the day before Tracey's exam period starts so she probably won't be a starter - but I should be right.
I'll bring along one of the girls - my eldest loves markets! I'm looking forward to having a look along some of those back roads!
Cheers,
Don

Well all is looking good for Sunday. The weather might be a bit wet and a bit chilly so it may pay to bring brolly for the markets. You may also want to bring some coins for some of the many roadside stalls that we may pass.

Hi Gary,

Unfortunately I can't make it this Sunday. The offroad trailer being built wasn't ready, and I'm borrowing a trailer from a friend-of-a-friend. But it won't be ready until Sunday lunch time. Then I need to pack it to get ready for the Cape trip that starts a few days later.

I hope you all have a great time.

Cheers

Just found out that the Channon Market has been Cancelled. The Drive will still continue but no market to stop at. We could arrange to have lunch at Nimbin or before. If you wish to cancel your interest because of no market then please let me know asap.

Bluebell is sitting in the carport all fueled up and has the fridge and recovery gear loaded - she knows we are going on a drive.
She gives a little quiver of excitement every time I walk out of the house.
I can't disappoint her - so I'm still in!! :D

Hi Gary
we are still looking forward to the day.
Allan is probably happy to keep me away from the markets anyway!!!
We will be happy to pick up lunch anywhere but will head home for dinner.
See you tomorrow
