Amamoor (Imbil) CANCELLED

Post by Capella_Ben »

The region around Amamoor and Imbil is somewhere I have been meaning to go for a while. Looking on 4x4 earth I can see a few tracks around Amamoor and a couple in the Imbil state forest. As far as camping spots go, there are a couple of options, but I think that the Cedar Grove Camping Area in the Amamoor state forest looks to be pretty central and relatively cheap.

So the plan is to base ourselves out of there and go exploring the local tracks. If you have been with me on an exploring trip before then you'll know what to expect. If not expect an interesting trip with the occasional navigational challenge.

Trip Leader: Ben (Capella_Ben)
Where: Amamoor and Imbil State Forests
Costs: Camping fees
Standard: Black Diamond (approx)
Meeting location: BP Service Centre Morayfield (Nth Bound) at 8:30am for a 9am departure (last one there has to write up the trip report)
UHF: Channel 13.

You need to book your camping online at: https://www.derm.qld.gov.au/parks/iapar ... kParkId=22 Make sure you choose the Cedar Grove campground. We will have to check for any fire restrictions before we go. Lets hope we get a little rain between now and then.

We may be available for a day trip.

We did the Sunday Creek road around 18 months ago. It's near the Charlie Morelands area (Imbil). The main track is not too difficult, but from memory, there were some interesting side tracks and some deep-ish creek crossing. We didn't try them as we didn't want to bash our other 4x4 around too much.

We will try some of the tracks further north. I do have the GPS locations for some more interesting sections.

But Amamoor is only 2 hours from my place, so it would be alright for a day trip.

Due to lack of interest and me not feeling too well, I have cancelled this trip.
