Bribe Island Afternoon Trip 29th April 2017

Thanks to Dave for organizing this last minute trip to Bribie Island. Nobody else could make it so it was just me, Dave & family. We headed up the inland track after airing down to come out on the beach near the WWII bunkers. The track was pretty firm but bumpy with deep ruts. Along the way Dave took out his drone and set it to follow us.

It was my first time on Bribie Island so I had a walk around the bunkers and took a few photos. It looked like one of the bunkers still had 70 year old sandbags.

Driving back along the beach we spotted some birds of prey flying around and a couple of Sea Eagles sitting the trees.

We stopped at First Lagoon so Dave & family could fry up some dinner and the kids could have a play. According to Dave there was a lot less water in the lagoon than his previous visits. We found some soft sand had a go at getting my Navarra bogged. I had to put it in 2WD and reverse to dig myself into the sand but still got out by putting it in 4 low. I bogged myself again and Dave showed me how to use the max tracks to get myself out, although I didn't get very far in 2WD.
By the time we left 1st Lagoon the sun had gone down and it was dark as we drove off the beach to a carpark with lights so we could air up before heading home.

It was a fun afternoon and a chance to get more experience driving on sand, so thanks again Dave.
