Booloumba Falls day trip 20th May - Postponed 2 weeks
Posted: April 19th, 2017, 10:08 pm
The last time we attempted this trip we got sidetracked by playing on some very interesting sidetracks and completely lost track of time....sounds like my kids.... So we still haven't seen the Booloumba Falls - so we'll try again.
This trip will start at Kilcoy and head north along the blacktop to the Western end of Sunday Creek Road. Sunday Creek Road is over 40km of dirt road through very scenic forest. There is a connecting road that was closed last trip due to a damaged bridge but if open will allow us to cut directly down from halfway along Sunday Creek Road to the falls - if not we can access the falls by continuing via Charlie Moreland and Booloumba Campgrounds. There is a 1.3km walk down from the falls carpark to the falls along a well maintained walking track but there is a couple of magnificent little swimming holes for those who want to take the walk. For those who don't want to do the walk we can sit and natter for a while. We can then head back to the area around Charlie Morelands and explore some of the tracks or run up a bit further to Imbil State Forest. If the weather is a bit iffy, we can explore up around Imbil township and Borumba Dam.
Where: Through the Conondale State Forest to Booloumba Falls
Cost: Free
When: Saturday 20th May
Meeting Place: Meet at Yowie Park at Kilcoy for a 9.00am start. (Western end of Kilcoy)
UHF: Channel 13
Trip Standard: Blue
Trip Leader: Don
