Simpson Desert and Rock trip

Post by Dalmatian »

Hey guys,

Im really keen on doing this trip. Ive been to the rock before but stayed on hardtop, loved climbing it and always said i would drive straight there one day. That day has come! April 2015.
Ive got a mate who went last year and would love to go again.

Best off to start planning for a big trip like this.

Who else is keen (definitely) or interested??

Tim

Hi Tim,

I though I had responded to this post ... but maybe I didn't hit the "submit" button.

Anyway, I'm still very keen to go on this trip, and I know there are at least to others very interested.
Yes - we should give together to start planning the route. I even have some paper maps handy that we could use to see key highways, main tracks (like the QAA, etc), and can give us an idea of distances between landmarks.

I am definitely interested in this trip. In the end it will come down to work commitments and if I have finally replaced the Fronty.

Hi Debbie,
I don't think we have set exact dates yet, other than sometime in April. Dates can be discussed soon with people interested to go on the trip.

Out of curiosity, where did you see the dates, I.e. 3rd of April.?

Thanks
Dave

i changed it to 3rd. personally it suits me better, but as Dave said, dates are flexible.

I thought 3rd because that's the start of school holidays and also Easter.

Has anybody (that is interested in coming) actually done this trip before? Would be great to hear what they have to say.

All i know is that we need to purchase a permit and take lots of water and fuel.
I wouldn't mind staying in a motel in Alice springs when we do the rock climb.
Take luxury when you can right?

Regarding luxury...absolutely...I'll have a swag just for when there is no motel / rundown hotel available.
