Freshwater Camp ground, Cooloola Coast 1st and 2nd of Mar
Posted: February 14th, 2014, 12:29 pm
We have a camping trip planned for the weekend of the 1st and 2nd of March at Freshwater campground.
Since low tide is at 2:20pm.
Freshwater campground is around 200m behind the sand dunes, and has some grass, toilets, showers and is protected to a large degree from any wind. So the campground is not too sandy (compared to beach camping), and is in a non salty environment.
Things to explore in the area : Inskip point, possibly Tolara State Forest or Harry's Hut, Red Canyon, double Island point, and naturally swimming. The water is completely calm at double Island point if you don't like the waves.
The Details.
When - 1st and 2nd of Mar
Meeting Point - Shell Service Station north bound on the Bruce Highway near Johnston Rd (4249 Bruce Hwy, Coochine Creek 4519)
Time - 8:45 for 9 am departure
Costs - $5.45 per person per night for camping - booked through the NPRS website. Vehicle Permit - $10.70 per day
UHF: Channel 13
Trip Standard: Green
Trip Leader: Dave
If the Noosa car ferry is used - $6 one way, car and trailer $12-14 depending on length. The camp ground has toilets and coin operated showers ($1 for 4 minutes). There is water available however it needs to be treated before drinking. The camp site is back off the beach out of the wind.
