We all woke to the sound of thunder and rain but decided that it surely won't last so we met up at the BP Morayfield. There was only a small group of us heading off this weekend, Mark & Arie, Steve Yvonne & Simon and our guests, Tom, Jules and their beautiful baby Gabi. After a slow drive due to lots of traffic and drizzle we arrived at our camp via a detour past Lake Cootharaba, which looks like a wonderful place to camp for a weekend. We set our tents and camper up and Mark & Arie quickly learnt that you can' leave bread rolls on your table unattended. Very hungry scrub turkeys up there.
We headed out to explore the surrounding bushland and found a few boggy holes that Mark got himself bogged in but done a great job of getting himself out. A very steep hill had Steve struggling to get anywhere, but after letting down the tyre pressure was eventually on his way. Maybe Steve should think about getting himself a winch, and that would save poor Mark walking all the way back to the top to carry the max trax all the way back down. Lucky Simon volunteered to carry them back up.
After a few more tracks we decided to head back to camp to organize dinner. We all enjoyed sitting around chatting after dinner but really did miss the fire.
On Sunday we packed up and headed out for some more exploring. After dropping Tom & Jules camper off we headed into the bush again and found another bog hole that Mark decided to have a go at but this one was a little deeper and he had to be pulled out by Jules. We followed a track that had had very little use, but eventually had to turn around due to a large tree across the track and no one had bought their chainsaws. Jules decided to give the bog hole a try on the way back and got herself stuck, but it was Steve to the rescue this time.
We enjoyed lunch in a lovely park close by and a nice cool breeze. Dark clouds started to come over so we all said our goodbyes and headed for home. Everyone had a wonderful weekend and we would like to thank Mark for organizing a great trip. Some photos will follow
