Levuka 23-24 Mar 2013

The weekend weather was great; the Rainforest tracks were wet and the open paddocks were in most cases dry.
A lot of the Rainforest tracks were over grown with vines, lantana, ferns and stinging nettles and some large washouts which made traversing very interesting.

Everybody participated in group bonding activities such as Winching, Snatch recoveries, Road building, tyre changing and beverage consuming.
We had a lovely campfire and everybody endured a long boring speech on our Club history, the speech was given by one of the founding members, but the alcohol did all the talking.

Some members suffered a few scratches, sore heads and sleep deprivation and a loss of blood.
We found some hard/extreme tracks, drove thru 2 foot thick mud, foul smelling pooled water, deep and greasy rutted tracks, we scratched, dinted, chipped our trucks but we kept our chin up.

I did not take any photo’s but I’m sure someone might post a pic or two, but it appeared everybody had fun, worked hard together and enjoyed each other’s company.
Good to see a lot of members made this trip and hopefully got something out of it.

Till next time
Cheesemaker

Mariana and I took tonnes of photos and videos as we thought we were doing the report. Thanks Tim for sorting that out and for organizing the trip, we had an absolute ball except for the Mariana V Leech incident No. 1, 2 and 3. She got over it pretty quick though.
I will just put up an example of stuff we did.

Gary creating a stink for us all

The water crossing we all took at varying speeds

I found this the easiest way to load up and share a group of photos, more than happy for you all to add more to the album I've created & use it in the future maybe

Thanks for the write-up Cheesemaker ... great report.

Here are a just a few more photos. I haven't had a chance to look at the videos yet.

Did someone say mud???
Image

We always knew where to go. We just followed the raod signs.

Some of the wash-outs were dig.

The group sitting around the camp fire was good.

And I wonder how many people saw the waterfall.

BTW - it took two evenings and nearly 4 hours to clean the car. There was mud everywhere under the body. Certainly the muddiest the car has ever been.

I have had my tyre repaired. Seems that the stem was ripped off. So Levuka only cost me $35 this time (much better than last time).

How did people go with cleaning their vehicles? I spent 2 and half hours with a high pressure cleaners, and I'm still finding little areas under the body with mud trapped in corners.
