Levuka 23-24th March 2013
Posted: February 20th, 2013, 8:09 am
I might be heading up this way on these dates if anyone would like to join in. Levuka 4wd park is a farm that has two pockets of Rainforest. In these sections the tracks are pretty good and put any standard vehicle in its place but it can be done with persistance when it is dry. Unfortunately when Levuka is wet its very muddy and very slippery, like most parks.
Toilets and showers are available which is great for getting the mud off. Everytime I've been to Levuka I have managed to get the sheltered area (a old shelter with a fire pit at one end), which is used as a eating and entertaining area perfect for large or small groups. It is surrounded by a huge grassy paddock camper trailer and offroad van friendly. BYO camping gear and plenty of water because if it gets hot up there it gets very muggy (High humidity) due to the amount of moisture up there. The tracks are easy to extreme but if wet will limit us only to the easy tracks only, but there is still enough easy tracks around to amuse oneself.
This Park is located just out of Woodenbong, in Northern NSW so remember to lock your doors and keep the windows up (you seen those type of movies) the park owners are lovely people (farmers) and have been running this show for quite a while now.
Meeting place: Beaudesert McDonalds
Leaving at: Saturday 23rd 08:00 sharp
Time to Park approx: 1.5hrs
Last fuel stop: Woodenbong
UHF: 13
WHAT to bring: All your 4wd gear and camping gear and your ultra ego, plenty, plenty of water, should be still warm but bring some cold gear just in case. Dont need to bring that dirty big tarp because we should be able to get that sheltered area.
Bring some food, your chairs and a blankie and some of that magic liquid replenisher and dont forget to tell someone where you are going before you leave home. Probably better to take cash to pay.
Please repond asap so I can make the booking on our behalf, normally you do not have to book, but I would to try to reserve that shelter.
