CityView 4x4 PArk - 8 Dec 2012

With a 9:00am start from Beaudesert, it was only around 15 minutes to CityView 4x4 Park. The group to enjoy this trip were :
  • Ben
    Mark and Arie,
Jamin and Louise and 2 young kids (did I get the names right?) A potential new member???
    Dave, with 3 kids.
After paying the entry fee, we set off to test the tracks. There were a burn off too long before, so much of the country side was black.

The tracks were of different levels, and the dry conditions made some tracks easier (well, my option). Diff lockers certainly were an advantage in several spots.

We stopped for lunch on the side of a ridge. Though there were a few other groups in the park, we didn't run into too much congestion. On a whole, everyone seemed to have a lot of fun ........ although Dave still didn't get to try out his winch.

So, here is were we went.

Here is Ben driving through the burnt countryside.

And Mark climbing another hill, and staying clean going down another.

So, can you work out where level ground is in the next two photos?

Ok - there is no level ground. A 3D photo would show that.

Throw another "80" on the BBQ??? We had to scrap some hot coals of the road. There was still a lot of heat in them.
Image

The tracks on the hillside were clearly seen once the fire blacken the ground.
Image

The tracks were dry and dusty, as Jamin easily climbs a difficult track.
Image

The landscape took on an interesting appearance after the fires.

And to finish off, here is a video of highlights (when I could pull out the camera quick enough).

Nice report Dave and I liked the video too - all except for the last shot complete with in car expert commentary from (I am guessing) Chris.

Here are a couple of more photos

How many council workers does it take to clear burning embers off a track

Ben taking a wide line to avoid the flames

Dave showing his flex with all the new gear on the Prado

And finally a nice picturesque lunch spot
