America doesn’t get all the cool off-road stuff. Back in Australia, where I grew up, the tough-as-nails Nissan Patrol was considered a worthy rival to Toyota’s LandCruiser — almost indestructable, almost unstoppable. I was delighted to find Nissan had a short wheelbase — 94.4-inches — version here, and while it rode a little rougher around the off-road course than the Xterra, you just knew that when the going got really tough, this thing would just keep going. The 160-hp, 3.0-liter V-6 turbodiesel under the hood has 261 lb-ft on tap at just 2000 rpm and delivers nearly 22 mpg on the European combined fuel-consumption cycle. A Wrangler alternative? You bet.
...interesting that this model has the v6 diesel....
and another one. This is the 2008 model.
