Dave, Any rust on the spindle means it is stuffed.

The new one arrived today along with various other parts I ordered. I'm getting pretty good at pressing in wheel bearing races now and got them changed in no time. Got it all back together and was doing up the nuts on the cone washers when two of them would not do up. No worries I'll just undo them and see what's wrong. Nope; thread totally stripped and they wouldn't come off. A few choice words later and I got one off by using the rattle gun (luckily brought the hole stud out) and the other I had to cut the nut off and flatten out the top an bottom so I can use my big shifter to unscrew it. Put two old ones in and job's a good-un.

The 'Cruiser lives again.

My baby's growing up....

I spent my time at home yesterday wisely. I designed and printed a special holder for the kids bluetooth speaker. It didn't have anywhere to go normally and got bashed around. Now it has a home. It goes into the spot where the ash tray was.

When I was pumping up my tyres at Glendon, I noticed that the power cable for the compressor was getting a tad hot. Then I saw the fuse holder melt before my eyes. The odd thing is that the fuse didn't blow and was still working.

Any idea as to what was happening? Was the actual cable getting hot, or just where the fuse holder was?
If it's just around the fuse holder, there may have been a bit of corrosion on the fuse connector.
But if the whole cable was getting hot, the compressor motor could be dying, and drawing too much current, but still just under the rating of the fuse. This is why the fuse may not have blown, but just started melting the holder.
