Lightning Ridge trip - 4th to 9th August 2024

The major trip for this year is the Lightning Ridge trip which will include 1 night at Nindygully, camping beside the Moonie River and historic pub, then 2 nights at Lightning Ridge in various accommodation, and then 2 nights camping in the Warrumbungle National Park. Members can take the opportunity to extend the trip before or after as they wish – eg National Parks or motel at Stanthorpe.

We are making our own individual accommodation arrangements at Lightning Ridge (see previous emails), the camping is free at Nindigully and Don will make a group booking of campsites at the Warrumbungles.

Don will send out emails regarding booking tours and things to do. The “Chamber of the Black Hand” at Lightning Ridge and a tour of the Anglo-Australian Telescope at the Siding Springs Observatory, and “Donna the Astronomer at Milroy Observatory” are high on our list.
If you have some space, could you take along a small amount of firewood for a campfire at the Warrumbungles please – it will be cold and we have 2 nights.

There is an IGA at Lightning Ridge if you want to stock up food there.
