We are planning a foodie trip to the Stanthorpe area on the 13th and 14th April but with a difference this time - we will do some exploring on the Saturday and do the foodie bit on Sunday morning.
Where: Stanthorpe via White Swamp road and the Boonoo Boonoo National Park.
Cost: Bring your wallet - Accommodation, meals and allow for purchasing wines / jams / beers / cheese etc at wineries etc. Also bring $8 in cash as the National Park has a self registration fee.
When: Saturday 13th April and Sunday 14th April
Meeting Place: Toby Slater Park Boonah for a 9am start.
UHF: Channel 13
Trip Leader: Don - 0407030693
We will meet at the Toby Slater Park on the Southern outskirt of Boonah at 9am Saturday. We will take the back way to Stanthorpe via White Swamp road and down the Mt Lindsay Highway. We can stop at Liston for Lunch at the Liston Tea House. We then head further south to the Boonoo Boonoo National Park for a bit of exploration. We need to be at Stanthorpe by about 6pm with Dinner at Anna's booked for 7pm.
Check with your motel that reception will still be open at 6pm and what arrangements apply if we run late.
There are public toilets about 100meters before the park at the top end (southern end) of the town area in Boonah. There are public toilets at Liston and the maps indicate there are facilities at the campground in Boonoo Boonoo National Park.
Sunday morning we head to Ballandean at St Judes Cellar Door and Bistro for breakfast at 9am.
From here we do the usual foodie bit - visiting a couple of our favourites - wineries, Heavenly Chocolates, Soap Factory, Jamworx, etc etc on our way home. Depending upon peoples interest we can break into smaller groups. We'd leave the area around lunchtime to head home.
The dinner and breakfast bookings have been made but I haven't been able to contact the Liston Tea House yet.
If need be we can take our lunch - I'll advise further.
I suspect the dirt roads will be in good condition but none of us have visited this park yet.
Let me know in the next week if you are coming so I can firm up the bookings.
Cheers.
