But by 2:30pm, Gridpack (Mr and Mrs), the Dipmakers and friends, and Dave and family started the trip by heading out to White Patch. There we aired down and headed up the Northern Access Track.
With some patches of rain, the sand was firm making it an easy trip up the track. After hitting the beach, we drove up to the World War 2 forts, and Dave's family had a bit of a play on the beach and the edge of the water.
Here is a photo of our vehicles at the forts.

At the most northern point accessible by vehicle, a few large sticks were sticking out of the sand. See photo below.

Dave mentioned he had a photo shortly after the trees fell from the sand dunes onto the beach a few years ago. This was due to much of the sand was eroded away during the storm season. Though I can't find the photo weeks after the storms, I did find one around 6 months later.

We then drove down the beach while there were a few patches of rain.

But we passed what could be called "second lagoon", and while having a look, we decided to stop and cook dinner on the beach. Dave's boys went for a swim in the lagoon, and came out just in time for dinner. So we ate our dinner on the beach while the sun slowly went down (behind the clouds).
By the time is was dark, we packed up just in time for another shower of rain before hitting the black-top .... when it stopped raining. Great timing.
Though it wasn't sunny weather, it was still warm, and it seemed everyone enjoyed the day out. A big thanks to Gridpack for organising the trip.
