Sandy Creek Campin 22-23 March

Post by cuboid »

The next club trip was originally planned for Emu Park, however further research found that it is a 3.5 hr trip for most, which I feel is a little to much for a weekend trip. So it has been changed to Sandy Creek Campin, near Kilcoy. It has a some "4wd tracks" on their property (from previous discussions with the owner I suspect these are pretty basic) and is also very close to Bellthorpe and Conondale NP's and Jimna State Forest for some more interesting tracks.

Where: Sandy Creek Campin
Cost: $65 - this is for 1 or 2 nights and includes children under 16 free. Check out there rates page for further details
When: 22-23 March (I am going to try to head up Friday afternoon)
Meeting Place: BP Service Centre Morayfield (Nth Bound) at 8:40am for a 9:00am departure
UHF: Channel 13
Trip Standard: Blue Square to Black Diamond
Firewood: We can take our own wood or purchase from them, no collection allowed from the property

This campsite requires bookings and the owners say that it tends fill up for each weekend. They suggest booking as early as possible and payment needs to be made within 3 days of booking. So I would suggest people register there interest in this thread and then we all look to book late this week.

The camp ground is fantastic. The 4wd tracks are basic with the occasional track being a little more difficult.

As mark had already mentioned is does fill up very quickly so book in early and also arrive as early as possible if you plan on camping near the creek.

Also unfortunately we won't be able to attend this trip

Surprise surprise, Kim and Steve ( the dippies) will actually be able to make this trip, we have booked and are bringing our son and daughter in law and two grandkids and will be heading up Friday afternoon.

See you there.

That sounds like a good idea Dipmaker. I have just booked now, she did say there were still quite a few sites left. The weather forecast at this stage is not to great though.

Also checked out the firewood situation, we could get a 1/4 trailer of wood for $35 or $10 a bag. Anyone interested? Save us from carting stuff up there.

I don't mind throwing in a few dollars and because we live so close I will see if I can take a bit extra as well.
