The weekend of the 28-29 sees us heading to Harry's Hut, which is situated on the banks of the Upper Noosa River. This is National Park Camping and more information can be found at http://www.nprsr.qld.gov.au/parks/coolo ... nd_day_use.
This area is at the beginning of the Cooloola Way, surrounded by State Forest and a little drive to Teewah inland tracks and beach. Saturday would involve a drive through the state forest after setting up. On Sunday, low tide is at 9:30, so if people are interested we could plan a trip to the beach, however this would require a beach permit. Otherwise we could continue to explore the surrounding area.
The deatils
Where: Harry's Hut, Cooloola National Park
Costs: $5.45 per person per night (Bookings to be made through NPRS website). There are limited campsites (9 in total) so I would recommend booking early
Standard: Predominantly Blue Square but hopefully we will find some interesting tracks
Meeting location: BP Service Centre Morayfield - 8:30
UHF: Channel 13.
Extra Info: Post if you are interested in beach driving as we will need to prebook beach permits ($10.70 per day if booked online). As it is national park, there are no pets allowed and unfortunately no fires at the camp site either. If you have paddle craft, the Upper Noosa River is a nice little place to explore, the Narrows are quite spectacular. But be warned, there are shark sightings even this far up stream so swimming in the river at the campsite is not recommended by the Ranger.

Hi Mark, great to meet you guys last night. Tentatively count us in, clearing with boss lady tonight as we apparently have other social engagements which I do not wish to attend
I haven't been up there before and don't know the place, what is the best campsite to book for a car & trailer?
Cheers, Tom

Re: Harrys Hut - 28-29 Sep
Thanks for answering the questions Stevon and that is correct, I have booked site 3. Also there are toilet facilities but no showers. Talking to Steve and Yvonne on Sunday night we have decided that we wont hit the beach (given the tides we would only get on there for a couple of hours, it would take longer than that to clean the cars afterward), so dont worry about a beach permit. We will enjoy the state forests, and perhaps take a drive up to Poverty Point, which could be another camping spot to try in the future.
