Fleabay snorkels

I have been looking around for a snorkel for my Hilux and found one on ebay (no brand name) for $175 delivered. This is well less than half price of the leading brands, anybody heard anything about these cheap snorkels?

Craig has one and they are OK. But the plastic is not too flash and it's already starting to look a bit shabby. There are quite a few choices with different quality brands now; Safari, Ariteck and another one I can't think of (Ironman maybe).

I have heard so many reports on the fleabay snorkels, some saying there great others saying that dont fit correct and also leak. But i guess this can also be a problem with any brand. If you want to save some money Steve buy a safari or something and fit it yourself. Ben and I both did ours and turned out fine, or you could organise a working bee and Ben and i can come up to help fit it

Well i finally bit the bullet and after a fair bit of research bought a cheap snorkel, it is a no name nock off of a safari. Putting it side by side to the original you can see that they definitely come out of the same mould, even the minute imperfections are the same, the only difference I can see is that it doesn't have Safari written on it. It came with everything needed to install it and when you look closely at some of the parts you can see where a brand name has been ground off.
it is a relief to know that if it does have to be changed sometime in the future due to degradation that all the holes are the same as the Safari so shouldn't be a drama.
At $145 compared to $460 for original it is worth the punt.
