Tim's DX Ute

Postby Dalmatian » September 27th, 2014, 7:58 pm

So ive done a little upgrade on the gq shorty...

its now a patrol dx ute 2000.

Does anybody in the club have leaf springs in the rear? i need some advice on them.
Also, apparently with a 2" lift, i can fit 35's :)

So what tools and parts did you need to perform that upgrade? And where are the photos?

As for leaf springs in the back, had them in the Ranger and they make for a rough ride when not loaded.

I'm going to transfer as much parts as I can before I give the shorty to the wreckers, or try parts it out.

Any photos of the DX Ute available??? And what size tires have you got on the DX (or just I ask ... what size will they eventually have)?

Do you have any other mods like a lift, lockers, winch, etc?

I think he might be too busy patting it to take a photo. Hopefully he wont have to worry about putting his hand through a rusty panel like he did with the shorty :D

No photos... as mark said, i'm too busy 'working' on it.

atm i've got 33's on, but will eventually put 35's once the 33's wear out.
i'm in the process of installing a lift and twin lockers.
the front suspension in the gq is being transferred on as soon as i can get the dam shocks off the gu! they wont budge!
im getting parabolic springs in the rear with toughdog RALPH shocks - side note, i saw the ralph shocks today and OMG they are like truck shocks! MASSIVE!! probably looking at a rough diameter of 3"!!!!!!
Found out today that my rear diff is a monster! its the big H260 diff. unfortunately my rear locker in gq wont be able to fit in rear gu... BUT>>> IT SHOULD FIT IN FRONT GU!! Its got a pretty good LSD in the rear for the time being.
For once ive got an inbuilt uhf, GME TX4200... just need an aerial.
Safari snorkel is getting installed in the near future as well.

Im stock standard for now. Just you wait, ill be back up there with the big boys soon.

Wow. Sounds like it's being built for more 1 wheel driving. This is when only one wheel is on the ground at any one time ... like that hill climb where I was ballast. I'm sure there were times where only 1 wheel was on the ground at times.
