Seeing a lot of other are posting updates on their cares, I thought I had better update the progress on my car

It now is sporting a flexy coil 2 inch lift with Oztek shocks. Has firmed up the ride a little but I am no longer dragging the rear bar on everything.



And I now have a dual battery system - Redarc BCDC1240 and an Ozcharge under bonnet AGM - 110 Ah with a voltage gauge by my legs in the car (this stays constantly back lit and is very bright at night )

I installed the ARB battery tray myself - it took me a couple of hours to get 6 bolts in , they just did not want to all line up. Broke a bolt in the process, but fortunately it could be removed easily as it was protruding through the guard.



After much debate and research, I ended up having Springers Solar install the dual battery system. They did a neat job and I cant even show a picture of the BCDC as it is tucked away in the passenger side pillar, never to be seen. That is why they recommended the volt meter so that I know it is all working correctly.

I think I finally fixed my UHF problems today. As a few of you would know, my radio has been crackling when I transmit. I initially though that it was a problem with the socket being loose so I opened the unit up and added a bit of glue around the socket to help hold it in place. This did not help, and the problem actually got much worse and when I was out on the last trip the radio would cut out randomly when I was speaking.

After playing with the unit at home, I began to suspect that it was actually the plug that was the issue. May have had something to do with the violent thrashing it got in my old car. My radio has all the control and LCD display on the handpiece, so it was not as easy as just buying a new mic. I pulled the hand piece apart to find that the "curly cord" (as I now know the technical name to be) had a plug on the end and looked like it would be a sinch to replace.



So I started Googling and did not have much luck. Ended up calling GME and found they had the part, had to order through ARB and for the princely sum of $11 my radio is crystal clear again. Yay

$11 for a new cord is pretty good going!

Yeah, I was surprised it was so cheap. Perhaps ARB forgot to add on their margin.

And nice work with the car tray too. It brought back memories when I installed my battery tray. I had brackets and one bolt that didn't align, and even the bracket that goes over the top of the battery had an extra tab that prevented the bonnet from closing. Really strange .... I had to cut it off.

Great to hear* you clearly fixed the radio, or should I say. it will be great hearing you clearly on the radio.

It has taken me a while but I have finally made another addition to the car - a Foxwing Awning. Oh and also a set of Cooper St Max 285 70 17 (but they have been on there for about a year)
