Bribie Island Trip - Sat 8th of Feb 2020 POSTPONED (RAIN)

Postby BenJancz » January 28th, 2020, 1:19 pm

Hi All, there has been a distinct lack of beach trips this year so i have decided to sort this issue out myself.

I would like to propose a Bribie island trip on Sat 8th of Feb 2020. Tide times are looking great on the Saturday
High tide at 8.17am
Low tide at 3.07pm
High tide again at 8.47pm

Flexible Itinerary would look something a little like

Meet at the Bribey Surf Life Saving Club at noon, this gives everyone a chance to arrive a little earlier if they wish for a morning swim.
IT takes around 90 minutes to get to Bribie Island with moderate traffic.
We can have lunch at the SLSC with hopefully an ocean view.
After lunch we can head down to the beach for another swim or jump in the cars and head up the beach to one of the lakes.

The lakes were very popular on Australia day.
Probably due to wind direction, hopefully its a bit more off shore on our day.
From here we can decide whether to head north to the forts or just head back to Woorim and home.
Nice easy trip, nobody other than me needs to get bogged.

Trip Leader: Ben J
Where: Woorim, Bribie Island
When : Saturday 8th Feb 2020
Costs: Free - unless you dont have a permit, plus Lunch at Bribie Island Surf Life Saving Club if you want. They have a $10- kids menu
Standard : Easy (deflated tyres) to Moderate (inflated) plenty of bogged Xtrails etc on Australia day
Meeting Location: Bribie Island Surf Life Saving Club at noon.
Meeting Time: noon
UHF: Channel 13.

Sounds like a great afternoon.
Count us in - I'll most likely have Chelsea along as well.
Cheers,

The weather leading into Saturday looks torrential, however, Saturday itself looks OK so far.

Hopefully the lakes are nice and high / clean and we get a decent day on Saturday. I will revisit the weather on Friday.

It looks like the curse of Bribie might strike again. It seems like if you want it to rain just post a trip to Bribie. I think I'll give this one a miss anyway. Have fun.

Cheers,

Cos.

The Curse of Bribie....... it now has a name, Thanks Cos
The rainfall expected on Saturday has not improved, infact, it has intensifield.

I'm not ready to pull the pin yet but I would start making alternative plans for Saturday.
I will revisit the weather tomorrow during the day but it will need to improve considerably to be given the green light. I'm a bit weary of flooding as well,
very very damp here (i.e. 20cm deep) where I work in South Brisbane this morning.

The local farmers should pay us a fee to post Bribie trips.

Sorry, I'm calling it. Forecast is headed in the wrong direction. Indy has developed a runny nose. I will postpone until (if) the weather improves.
