Hey Dave, where did you get the firewood info from? The code of conduct says firewood can be collected, just don't cut down any living trees.

Hi Cuboid ..... unfortunately real work was involved. The tree came from a backyard, and I was the only person they knew with a chainsaw. The tree just fell/leaned over. It seemed to be rotting from the inside. So it had to be chopped up anyway.

Hi Boxy .... it will be great to see you out there.

Cheers
Dave.

BTW - I got a message back from the Springs that you can collect firewood from on the property. I can foresee a "chimney" log fire being constructed.

Looks like we will have a good turnout for the weekend. At this stage we have the following starters:

Myself
Dave
CBM_64
PK Blackburn (coming from Toowoomba, perhaps with some tagalongs)
Boxy (may be running late)
And GridPack for Saturday.

The forecast is for possible showers on Saturday (makes the tracks more interesting and fills the mud hole) and sunshine on Sunday to dry the tents. Should be a great weekend.

PS - and don't forget that you can print a map and entry form before leaving home http://www.thesprings4x4.com.au/forms

I was hoping to come, but now have a birthday party and have to host a cricket club event. :-(

That's a shame Ben, I was looking forward to seeing if the new car would handle Beer-o-clock hill as easily as your old cruiser :D

haha, I'm still the only one in the club who has successfully made it (to my knowledge). Who is giving it a go this time?

I'll do the climb this afternoon...... after it stops raining.

I think my winch cable is long enough to pull me up the whole distance. ;)
