Hi All,

Well some are away in the desert over Easter, we ones left behind don't want to miss out on all of the fun, so how about a little trip of our own down into norther NSW. The plan is to head to Emu Creek Extreme Retreat on Paddys Flat Road Tabulan. On the way we will pass WW11 Tank traps and the Upper Clarence River. We will spend a bit of time exploring the park but also get out and explore beyond it as well, with the Gerard State Forest nearby and perhaps even a trip to Bald Rock National Park or into Tenterfield. So if you are interested, let me know below.

Trip Leader: Me
Where: Emu Park Extreme Retreat, Tabulam http://www.emucreek.com
Costs: $10 per person per day + $10 per car per day (please have a few dollars extra as I couldnt quite make since of the owner on the phone)
Standard: Blue Square to Black Diamond
Meeting location: Mcdonalds Beaudesert
Meeting time: 8:40am for a 9:00am departure
UHF: Channel 13.

Booking is not required (or available), so we just need to turn up with our cash.

We will be there.

Is that $10 per person including kids? If so that is $240 for the 4 days.

Kids under 3 are free

It is 3 nights so would it not be $150 + 4wd fees. Give him a call Ben, maybe you can make more sense of it than me,or wrangle a family discount or something.

Mark,

Yeah the web site does not make much sense. I had a chat with them and found out it is $5 per person per day + $5 per person per night + $10 per day for 4WDing. So that is $35 per person for the weekend for camping + $10 per day for 4WDing.

Maybe we could only pay for 2 days 4WDing at the park and spend the other time exploring the surrounding area. Might also stop in at Bald rock on the way home. Might not need to pay for the last days camping.

Should be good. Looking forward to exploring the area.

I would ask for a quote for the following then :
We arrive late in the afternoon (therefore pay for only that night), and will drive around in 2WD mode. Then the next day 1 adult and 2 kids will go 4x4ing, while the remaining 2 will leave the park, etc, etc. In other words, make the quote so complex, even they will have trouble working it out.

Sounds like an expensive place to take the family.

I have been looking at other parks and their pricing structure is a little more than Janowen's and certainly better than Gordon Country, they want to charge you for 4 nights over Easter at 15 per adult and 10 per child + $30 to 4wd.

Regardless of price, I am sure we will have a great time. I am happy to get out and explore the area, it is beautiful lush part of the world.
